Activity 8

I want to set myself ready for next year when it comes to me making my trailer and hopefully with a lot more work put into it i can make it better than our opening two minutes. Next time i am going to ensure that i am more organised with my time management and make sure that i leave myself enough time to film. I will set specific dates and get everything i need to do on them dates done to make sure that nothing gets rushed. Next time i will also use a wider range of camera angles to make it look more professional. I will ensure that I include more blog posts and make filming day diary posts to keep the audience updated on what we are doing.

Also if we choose to make a horror trailer we can add effects into the film as we have more knowledge on this genre. During a trailer it doesn't focus on just one scene it focuses on some of the most important scenes so we will be able to focus on a range of events to include in our trailer. Also we will be able to use more characters in the trailer as it focuses on scenes throughout the film instead of just a certain part like in the opening 2 minutes.

Activity 7

Through making this task I have learnt how to do different shots and how to make use of certain camera angles and how they would be effective in our film. This information helped a lot when it came to actually making the film because we all had an idea on what we needed to do and how to do it, confidently. I learnt that using a high or low camera angle shows the audience who has the most prevalence ( screen time) and who is more important.

I have learnt how to edit with Adobe which took a while for me to get use to but once we knew how it worked we felt that this was a good software to use as it allowed us to do so much with the footage that we had. Also by learning about the different stereotypes of characters in films this helped to decide what genre our film was going to be and what the ages of the characters will be as it's important to target the right audience in order for the film to be successful.

Activity 6

During the making of our opening two minutes I ordered in some new equipment so that we could make it as fun and as best quality as we could. We used a tripod to ensure that the camera was still and we used an extended selfie stick when filming the shots out of the window so that we could reach further out. Using an IPhone to film was the best thing we could use because of the quality of the camera.

When it came to uploading our videos to YouTube, I found this very easy and straightforward because I already knew how to work YouTube and how to edit and upload stuff. When editing our film we used a software called Adobe Premiere Elements 10 which is a software I was not familiar with and I find it difficult to get my head around how it works. What took the most time was trying to figure out which tool to use and what it would be most effective for. Sometimes the software would freeze and crash out which meant we missed some things out when it came to putting it down to perfection and ensuring that we hadn't lost any footage.

activity 5

The audience were drawn into our movie because of the use of sound and some of the similarities with other popular horror movies.  The use of sound is heard throughout the film but becomes louder during more intense scenes for example during our film when Charlotte sees the figure for the first time the music becomes loud and puts the audience on edge. At the start of our film genre conventions are used for example in the film Scream the setting is in a house and the main character was living a normal day to day life just like Charlotte then suddenly something dramatic and scary happens. The title of our film shows its a horror as the writing is in bold and in a big font which we thought would attract the right audience for a horror film.

The couple featured in our film are moving into a new house which is a important part in someone's life as it shows independence and that they are growing up. This relates to some of our target audience as some may have moved into their own house or about to with either friends, their partner or by themselves. Not only does this relate to people who have moved out but it also relates to some of the younger people in our target audience who may be thinking of moving out soon or in the future. However some people who have recently moved in to a new house may have enjoyed the experience so would enjoy watching this but also if someone is about to move into a new house watching this may put them off doing it.

Activity 4

we have decided that our target audience would be between the age of 15-18. we came up with this because throughout our film there is scenes of threatening behaviour and there will be violence. Another reason is because the target audience can picture themselves in that situation and it makes it seem more real for them as the characters in the film are of a similar age.

Other than focussing on age we also took into consideration that it is mainly a male dominated target audience that will go and watch a horror movie as some girl find them too scary. Boys at this age seek any kind of thrill and thrive off of gore and violence and they are easier to excite.

In horror movies the story line is not always based on one person but mainly couples or friendship groups who are usually young adults or teenagers. This is why they attract a young target audience because the younger generation feel as though they can relate and picture themselves in that situation.
